Ms. Contreras is an experienced attorney with Emerzian Law Group providing service to the firm’s public agency, education sector, non-profit, and private business clients in the areas of: education law, labor and employment, and workplace investigations. Ms. Contreras also serves as an attorney for the City of Fresno’s Eviction Protection Program, providing direct legal representation to tenants being unlawfully evicted within the City of Fresno.
For the firm’s public agency and education sector clients, Ms. Contreras regularly advises clients on state and federal employment law, high risk termination, student discipline, special education compliance, and complaints of workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and sexual misconduct. She is passionate about working alongside educational institutions to support administrators in creating a positive educational environment for employees and students of all ages. She often supports clients with compliance concerns related to the Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, California Family Rights Act, Federal Family & Medical Leave Act, Title IX, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, as well as other state, federal, and local laws.
For the firm’s non-profit and private business clients, Ms. Contreras often advises clients on labor and employment concerns and day-to-day employee and HR support. Ms. Contreras is also a certified Human Resources consultant through SHRM.
As an experienced investigator with training in providing a trauma-informed approach, Ms. Contreras is uniquely suited to handle various types of complaints including but not limited to workplace harassment and discrimination, Title IX sexual misconduct, and special education concerns.
Prior to joining Emerzian Law Group, Ms. Contreras worked for a state-wide law firm advising k-12 school districts on student discipline and special education, as well as the California Public Records Act. She often provided on-site training to educators and administrators related to special education compliance.
Ms. Contreras enjoys spending her free time with her husband and three children, partaking in any form of dance, and a nice strong cup of coffee.
